Italian Barn House

Damaged by an earthquake, the Italian Barn House is a resurrected barn in the Modena plain. A limited number of interior walls create a seamless transition throughout the linear floor plan. The common areas are housed on the ground floor, while the study, bathroom and bedrooms are upstairs. Lightly washed wood covers the floors and walls to create a neutral palette and add to the minimalist aesthetic. The two-story residence is made entirely of glazed walls to take in the views of the surrounding fields. When privacy is desired, a series of timber shutters unfold to create a barrier between the inside and the exterior's endless pastures.
