La Petite Maison
For a guesthouse in the Charente-Maritime region of France, 2m26 created La Petite Maison. The tiny wooden dwelling is situated on a rural property in the countryside, surrounded by rolling hills and wooded fields. To take advantage of the pristine scenery, the structure features generous amounts of glazing and sliding doors to immerse the just 36-square-meter interior in the landscape and create a more spacious atmosphere. The flexible design also includes a series of shutters to close off living spaces from the wind and sun, turning the inside into a cozy, intimate cabin. Its minimalist aesthetic is the result of a singular palette of locally-sourced Douglas fir. The material is used in both the frame and facade as well as to craft custom furniture also designed by the studio.
