With its thick pine forests, dramatic mountain peaks, and the mirrored lake surface, it's no wonder why Völser Weiher lake is a year-round destination for travelers looking for a leisurely escape. To better accommodate the incoming visitors, the municipality in South Tyrol commissioned noa* to replace their former facility with a lake house worthy of the scenic nature reserve. The contemporary construction is comprised of two volumes. The main building features a classic saddle roof and serves as a snack bar that extends to an expansive terrace overlooking the updated bathing area. A second building contains lockers, bathrooms, and showers for swimmers in the summer and ice skaters during the winter. Enveloped in folded boards, its wooden frame will support a garden of climbing plants that will blend the modern structure into the rugged landscape.
