Housing a fission battery, Oklo's Aurora plant is designed to provide communities with dependable, clean power. Its metal fuel source, which can power the plant for decades at a time, produce heat that is carried via pipes to an exchanger that converts it into electricity. Thanks to its unique design, the plant is compact, with the fuel stored underground, and doesn't require water for cooling. The exterior has a sloped roof ideal for a number of different climates and is covered in solar panels that help provide power to the communal front area. Still a concept, Oklo is preparing to submit its first license application, meaning we could see a real-life application of its technology in the near future.
