Spread across a hilltop in San Jose, Feldman Architect's Pavilion celebrates its California location with outdoor living and sweeping views. The modern dwelling takes advantage of its elevated site with a glass entryway. Guests are ushered into the main living space where a steel-framed pavilion is enveloped in panels of glazing, blurring the boundaries between the interior and the dramatic landscape. A pair of stucco wings flank the transparent core, providing a monolithic contrast to the delicate pavilion. The single story volume to the south houses a master suite and two bedrooms while the two-story unit to the north contains a subterranean garage, den, and loft above. In true west-coast fashion, internal rooms expand out to patios, terraces, and gardens to savor the California climate.
