Nestled in the natural slope of the site, the Shelton House merges itself into its Kansas City plot. Darkened reclaimed timber and a green roof further incorporate the structure into the urban landscape. A U-shape layout wraps the structure around a sunken courtyard. Glazed panels on the inner walls enclose this central garden, providing views and sunlight to every room of the house. A west-facing terrace cantilevers off the limestone bluff, overlooking the treetops and Madison Avenue below.
