Smiling Cabin
The past year has left everyone with a need to escape. In response, South African studio Mimo Architects has imagined the Smiling Cabin. The simple shelter is designed with a heavy dose of escapism on a small clearing in an imaginary forest. Its concrete, wood, and glass exterior is nestled among the trees, blending in with the surrounding nature with a charred facade. The warm interior remains connected to the outdoors with expansive windows framing in views of the forest floor. At night, occupants can gaze at the stars from below a smiling window before they drift off to sleep.
