Echoing a bird's nest, the Suspended Forest Cabin hovers over the snow-covered ground in Switzerland. Its timber facade is made from hand-cut shingles of locally-sourced oak and larch, resembling the twigs used to form a bird's home in the trees. The wood was left in its natural state allowing for it to weather over time. Internally, walls are lined with wooden panels laid in a geometric pattern. Glazed voids puncture the cladding to frame in views of the surroundings while a series of skylights flood the interior with natural light. The entire structure dangles from a concrete canopy, floating above the terrain like a nest in the forest.
