Tungestolen Hiking Cabin

Nestled on a plateau in Norway, a cluster of cabins make up Tungestølen. The project was designed by Snøhetta as a shelter for visiting hikers and was commissioned by Luster Turlag after the original structure was destroyed by cyclone Dagmar. Each of the nine pentagonal structures is constructed from wooden glue-lam frames that have been covered in sheets of CLT and clad in ore pine. The main cabin houses a communal space for dining and socializing while the remaining buildings offer accommodations for up to 50 guests. Fitted with angular-shaped glazing, every cabin frames in views of the surrounding landscape including views of Jostedalen glacier.
