Two Sheds House
Sited in the bushland of Lorne, Victoria, the Two Sheds House is a modern homage to the rural vernacular. As the name implies, the dwelling is a pair of simple, gabled forms joined by a glass walkway. Each one is clad in a blackened timber facade and topped with a galvanized metal roof, accentuating the barn aesthetic. Internally, the living spaces are divided by function with the private areas in one volume and the public in the other. This layout allows for the home to function as an intimate getaway for the owners or a sprawling retreat for extended family. Light wood lining and concrete provide a warm contrast to the exterior while expansive windows highlight views of the surrounding nature. To further connect the inside to the landscape, the interior flows out to a covered terrace overlooking hills, native flora, and the water below.
