Under Restaurant

Off the coast of southern Norway, Under Restaurant has become Europe's first underwater dining experience. The concrete structure appears to bobble at the surface like a capsized boat. Guests enter from the shoreline to an oak-lined entrance. From there, they pass through a champagne bar and ultimately end at the dining room five meters below the waterline. The space features a large, aquarium-like acrylic window where diners can view the surrounding marine life while indulging in fresh, seasonal fare from chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard. Aside from the restaurant, the building will also function as a research center, while the textured exterior will act as an artificial mussel reef.
