Wai'olu House

Overlooking Uluweuweu Bay and Kikaua Point, the Wai'olu House embraces the rustic simplicity of the Arts and Crafts movement, as well as the Hawaiian landscape. The 13,497-square-foot home, designed by de Reus Architects, settles into the organic scenery with a natural facade made from coral stone topped with a zinc roof. Curved timber knee braces and wood doors and windows add warmth to the exterior while framing in coastal vistas. The same neutral hues are continued on the interior with a mix of local ohia hardwood and travertine stone floors, cedar trusses and ceilings, plaster walls, and teak hardwood doors, all complemented by furnishings curated Philpotts Interiors.
