Bash Unbreakable Sledge Hammer

Nope, this isn't another workout tool. The aptly-named Bash Unbreakable Sledge Hammer ($40-$160) boasts a steel-cored handle that prevents breakage, a high-visibility, drop-forged head that's flat on the end to allow it to stand upright, a textured grip, a safety plate that firmly locks the head in place to eliminate dislodging, an anti-vibration neck, and a lanyard hole on the end to secure the hammer to your wrist — although we can think of a couple of instances (working on a skyscraper and dropping it over the side) when you'd be better to just let it go.

  • Gerber Apocalypse Kit

The name pretty much says it all. The Gerber Apocalypse Kit ($350) includes everything you need to keep yourself alive should a zombie outbreak occur — and that means machetes, axes, knives, and more knives. Pretty much anything with a blade on it, all packed into a durable canvas case. Be safe. Be prepared.

  • Black & Decker SureGrip Laser Level

Hanging photos, artwork, shelves, and anything else on your wall while getting it perfectly straight and level can be hard — but it doesn't have to be. The Black & Decker SureGrip Laser Level ($30) makes it so by securing to your wall with a combination suction cup and silicone ring to eliminate marks, offering an integrated vial that changes from red to green when you've got it level, and a laser line that emanates from left or right, to ensure that everything on the wall is at the right height. The only way it could be easier is if it had an arm to reach out and hammer nails into the wall itself.
