GoLite Outdoor Gear

GoLite Outdoor Gear

Any long-time backpacker will tell you that the top priority when getting ready for a trek is to get the weight of your pack down to an absolute minimum. GoLite will help you do just that, allowing you to keep the handle of your toothbrush intact. Famous for its maximum strength and minimal weight, the Gust Pack ($100) weighs only 1lb 4oz yet has enough room for long excursions. You'll also want the Feather-Lite Sleeping Bag ($250), which weighs 1lb 2oz and compresses down to the size of a small ham. If you plan on hitting some rain, you'll also want to pack the 14 oz Cave Shelter ($120). And your Levi's and Gap tees won't due for clothing — check out the Lite-Weight shirt ($35) and zip-off Shazam pants ($80).

  • L.L. Bean Buzz Off Shirt

If the Mosquito Mega-Catch just wasn't enough to keep the blood-sucking pests away, or if you tend to do a lot of outdoorsy stuff like fishing or hiking, check out the L.L. Bean Buzz Off Shirt ($46). It's coated with the Buzz Off Insect Shield treatment — which is odorless, harmless, and invisible — to keep mosquitos, flies, ticks and chiggers away. You'll be able to leave the bug spray at home for a long while — the shirt's repellent lasts through 25 washings. The wrinkle-free shirt also comes in a long-sleeve version ($49).

  • Camelbak Water Bottle

Ever find your trusty Nalgene from college a little too sloppy on your outdoor adventures? Graduate from that old bottle to the Camelbak Water Bottle ($12). Featuring a unique bite-valve that contains no moving parts, you simply bite and sip. It holds around .75 liters of water, fits most cupholders, has a built-in handle that make it handy to attach to a clip or carabiner, is dishwasher safe, and — wait for it — is spill-proof, even when left in the open position. Excellent.
