Riddell SpeedFlex Football Helmet

Lately the great game of football has come under increased scrutiny due to the prevalence of head injuries — in particular: the dreaded concussion. But even with all that media attention, few significant changes have come to the piece of equipment that protects you the most. That is, until the Riddell SpeedFlex Football Helmet. Made with a flexible shell and inflatable five-point padding to help reduce the shock of impacts to your skull, it provides the kind of protection athletes have always needed. Throw in a stainless steel face mask, ratcheting chin strap, and support for Riddell's own impact monitoring system, and you get some athletic headwear that may just make the game safer.

  • Nike Vapor Irons

Everyone knows that you should try to hit the ball in the center of your iron — that's where the sweet spot is. Strangely, however, that's not the center of gravity. At least, not unless you're playing with a set of Nike Vapor Irons. Developed with input from Tiger Woods, Modern Muscle weighting technology moves the CG to the center of the iron, resulting in more solid hits and improved flight. The Vapor Pro uses it to provide maximum performance, while the Pro Combo uses it — along with a RZN insert — to provide blade-like workability with the power of a distance iron. And for the rest of us, there's the Vapor Speed, which combines the tech with FlyBeam-reinforced hollow cavities in the long irons for maximum forgiveness. We hit all three sets last night over a couple hours, and can't wait to get them on the course. We also asked Tiger for some pointers, but he just laughed, shook his head, and walked away.

  • Ping G30 Driver

In case you haven't noticed, Bubba Watson hits the ball far — really far. And while we're pretty sure it's not all because of his Ping G30 Driver, it certainly doesn't hurt. The latest in the line of Ping's flagship big sticks, the G30 features a 460cc head with turbulators in the crown to help direct wind and increase clubhead speed, a lightweight T9S titanium face, a new high-balance-point shaft, and Trajectory Tuning+ Technology to let you add or reduce loft up to one degree in either direction. That might not mean a lot to you, but what it's meant for us is drives that travel 20 yards longer and are straighter than with any other club we've tested.
