Sony 400-Disc DVD/SA-CD/CD Changer

Sony 400-Disc DVD/SA-CD/CD Changer

We may have ditched our CDs in favor of digital tracks, but it doesn't look like we'll be doing the same with our DVD collection any time soon. As this editor's collection grows, the DVP-CX995V 400-Disc DVD/Super-Audio/CD Mega Changer ($300) is looking more and more like a viable option for the living room setup. In addition to never again having to load DVDs one at a time, the unit up-scales video to high definition (1080i/720p) resolution and transmits pristine audio through an HDMI interface. The changer also features Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive circuitry, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 channel outputs and compatibility with DVD-RW/-R/+RW/+R1, MP32, JPEG3 , CD-RW/-R, VCD and SVCD discs.

  • Hannswood 10 inch LCD TV

While it certainly isn't the largest screen we've featured here on Uncrate, it is certainly the most retro. The Hannswood 10 inch LCD TV from Hannspree ($400) features retro wood styling and a ceramic back with a floral design, and will look perfect in a retro-styled den, kitchen, or office. Plus, we just can't get those little antennae out of our heads.

  • Sony BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc Player

In the battle for the next generation DVD format, we're putting our money on Blu-ray. With companies like Sony, Apple, Samsung and Panasonic backing Blu-ray and the whole 25GB vs 15GB thing, there's no way we'd side with HD DVD. At CES in Las Vegas last week, Sony unveiled its first Blu-ray disc player, the BDP-S1 ($TBA). While barely any features are known, the unit will offer 1080p full HD video output and DVD upscaling to 1080p. Look for it, and the first movie titles, around the beginning of summer.
