Whistle Dog Activity Monitor

Of course you take your pet to the vet — but you've always wondered if you could do something more to keep him healthy. Track their days. Make sure they are getting proper rest and play. Set goals for their walks. Check in on them while you are away. That is where Whistle ($130) comes in. From monitoring day-to-day behavior to long-term health trends, Whistle is able to ensure you are doing everything for your best friend. It lives unobtrusively on your dog's collar, updating wirelessly to your phone (using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity) and sharing highlights of your pet's activities. With its waterproof construction and 10 days of battery life, Whistle is ready for anything.

    Garmin Astro Dog Tracking System

Anyone who hunts with dogs knows how helpful they can be — and what a pain it can be to keep track of them. The Garmin Astro Dog Tracking System ($530) lets you track up to ten sporting dogs at once, with the convenience of a customizable GPS device. It has a range of up to nine miles, thanks to a steel VHF antenna. The top-mounted GPS/GLONASS receiver gives it excellent location performance. Bark detection lets you know when your dog has spotted something, even if he's out of range. A rescue mode helps preserve battery for a longer period of time, in case you and your dog get separated.

    Tactical Dog Leash

Brass knuckles meet pet care in the Tactical Dog Leash ($25). This industrial-strength leash features an ergonomically designed, knuckle-held polymer handle and a tough 1" x 48" nylon lead with quick release clips on both ends. We're not really sure what's tactical about taking your pooch out to potty — unless you're planning on leaving a surprise in the yard of a jerk neighbor — but we are sure that your dog will have a much more difficult time getting away with your hand wrapped around this thing.
