Whitepod Hotel

Set high in the Swiss Alps, the Whitepod Hotel is a series of geodesic domes that offers tons of privacy and stunning mountain views. The property offers three tiers of pods — cozy, family, and deluxe — with differing levels of amenities, such as king-size beds, breakfast, and Apple TVs. No matter which you choose, you'll enjoy the warmth of a wood burning stove, a large terrace, access to the sauna, daily tea, pastries, fruits, and coffees, and, depending on the season, either miles of signposted hiking trails or skiing with private lifts.

  • Manshausen Seacabins

Located on a 55 acre island in the middle of the Grøtøya strait in Norway, these Manshausen Seacabins provide modern accommodations in a rugged landscape. Each cabin has two separate bedrooms, and come equipped with a single bathroom, shower, and a small kitchen. The property's main house houses an open kitchen and dining area where breakfast is served each day, as well as a library, comfy seating, and Wi-Fi. There's also a saltwater pool formed by a dam, a hot tub, plenty of outdoor activities like kayaking, cycling, and hiking, and should you need anything else, there's a small village less than a half mile away.

  • Juvet Landscape Hotel

Plenty of hotels provide views of the surrounding landscape, but few take it as seriously as the Juviet Landscape Hotel. Located along the river Valldøla near the edge of the Norwegian Sea and the Gudbrandsjuvet gorge, this unique hotel recently played host to shoots for sci-fi masterpiece Ex Machina. We sent adventure photographer Alex Strohl, who was spending three months traveling Europe in his decked-out Defender, to experience the hotel first hand. The Juvet offers seven ultra-modern, detached guest rooms boasting floor-to-ceiling windows that let you take in the views from all angles, two minimalist, single-room "birdhouses", an old mill house, a restored 1870s farmhouse that's meant to house large groups, and a cabin. Outside, you'll find an on-site spa area with hot tub and sauna, access to winter sports, hiking, rafting, and camping, and a 100 year-old barn that now serves as a dining room and lounge.
