2023 Toyota GR Corolla Hatchback
Toyota's Corolla has long played the subdued daily driver to the likes of Honda's Civic and VW's Golf in the sporty compact segment — but those days are officially over. The GR Corolla is coming as a true contender to the Civic Type R and Golf GTi, packing 300 horsepower, a six-speed manual, variable all-wheel-drive system, and track-tuned suspension thanks to Toyota's Gazoo Racing team. The GR Corolla uses a turbocharged 1.3-liter cylinder making 300 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, driving all four wheels with selectable 60/40, 50/50, or 30/70 front-rear torque splits and front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials. Toyota driver Akio Toyoda led the on-track chassis development, with the GR Corolla getting a reinforced frame and suspension tuning to maximize the engine and all-wheel-drive performance. The GR Corolla will launch in 2023 with Core and first-year-only Circuit Edition models.
