2025 Renault 5 Turbo 3E EV
The original Renault 5 Turbo was a response to Lancia's rallying success with the mid-engined Stratos. Starting with the Renault 5 Alpine sport hatch, Renault moved the engine amidships, converted it to rear-wheel drive, and tapped Bertone and Marcello Gandini to design the rear bodywork. Forty years after production of the original 5 Turbo ended, Renault is resurrecting the 5 Turbo — minus the turbo and with an electric drivetrain. Wearing the Renault yellow-and-black livery, the new 5 Turbo 3E hews closely to the original's boxy shape, with flared fenders and NACA ducts filling the rear air intakes. Renault didn't release any specs about the 5 Turbo 3E, but it will be rear-wheel drive with dual electric motors delivering around 500 horsepower. The 5 Turbo 3E will be a limited-production, model with pricing and availability yet to be announced.
