Apple CarPlay Ultra
First teased in 2022, and later slated for a 2024 release, Apple's next-generation CarPlay is finally here in the form of CarPlay Ultra. Unlike traditional CarPlay, which is limited to controlling a connected iPhone via the main infotainment screen, CarPlay Ultra is deeply integrated into the vehicle, controlling all the driver's screens. That includes the instrument cluster, with dynamic options for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and more. Drivers can also use onscreen controls, physical buttons, or Siri to manage functions like the car's radio, climate, and performance settings, right from CarPlay. The first CarPlay Ultra-equipped vehicles are from Aston Martin, with the brand offering it as standard on all new orders in the USA & Canada; other manufacturers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, are working to bring the feature to their offerings.
