Apple iOS 18
Every year, Apple releases new iPhones — but it also gives older models new features with its annual update to iOS. The latest version, iOS 18, continues this tradition. On the surface, it adds customization options for app icons, the ability to lock and hide apps, and a Control Center redesign with groups and expanded third-party support. Messages gets several notable updates, including new tapbacks with emoji support, scheduled messages, text formatting options, and messages via satellite. Photos gets a complete redesign with automatic collections of people, groups, trips, and more, and the Maps app gain topographic maps with hiking trail support. An improved Mail app with on-device categorization and a Game Mode to improve frame rates and responsiveness round out the major upgrades; iOS 18 will arrive as a free update this fall.
