Corsair Red Absinthe

What happens when you create a non-traditional version of a historically vilified and mysterious spirit? Well, you get Red Absinthe from Corsair, of course. Absinthe, the anise-flavored spirit derived from botanicals was banned for decades because it was wrongly thought of as an addictive hallucinogen. It turns out it's no more harmful than any other spirit. Corsair distillery started with a traditional 1800's absinthe recipe, and then added things like citrus, tarragon and finally red hibiscus to give this unique offering its color and some floral notes. A different take on an up-and-coming spirit.

  • Mansinthe

Leave it to Marilyn Manson to come up with a stellar brand of absinthe. Mansinthe ($56/bottle) is the result of a two-year collaboration between the Antichrist Superstar,, and the Swiss speciality distillery Matter-Luginbühl AG, and recently won a Gold medal at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A well-known absinthe enthusiast, Manson was very involved in the drink's development, constantly tasting samples and providing feedback. The result? A great tasting, modern absinthe for the dark, brooding rocker in your life.
