Gillette has upped the ante in the razor wars. The new Gillette Fusion ($8) steps over the 4-blade Schick Quattro with its astounding 5-blade surface. The new razor also has a single trimming blade on the back for sideburns and such, and the blades on the Fusion are spaced 30 percent closer than Gillette's current MACH3Turbo system for less irritation. The Gillette Fusion Power ($9) has an on-board micro-chip that "optimizes the performance of the razor by regulating the voltage and frequency," as well as a low-battery indicator light and an automatic shut-off feature.
We’ve always wondered why toothbrushes that simply “shake” don’t have parts that move independently, and after using this toothbrush, we knew our hunch was right — don’t make the whole brush move, just parts of it. The Pulsar Toothbrush from Oral-B ($8) features MicroPulse bristles that pivot and pulse while you brush your teeth like normal, and a split head to help adjust to the contours of your teeth.

Protein bars usually contain as much sugar as a doughnut and have an ingredient list that requires a doctorate to pronounce. RXBARs are different. With no more than eight ingredients, each bar contains real, whole foods and delivers 12g of quality protein without any added sugar. At the core of every bar is a mixture of egg whites, fruits, and nuts — which they print right on the front of the package — and each of their 12 flavors are gluten-, soy-, and dairy-free. Our favorites are Chocolate Sea Salt, Blueberry, and Peanut Butter, but we recommend starting with the best seller pack, which comes with six of their top selling flavors. Keep a few of these in your gym bag, office drawer, and kitchen pantry for when you need a snack and resist the urge to scarf a candy bar.

Shampoo tends to be a pretty mundane sundry item. Sure there are some that smell better than others, and some have conditioner mixed in, but basically they all do one thing — wash your hair. Shampoo Paste from Johnny B. ($10) changes all that with a unique mixture that does double-duty as both shampoo and shaving cream. It sounds a little funky, but hey, one less bottle in the shower is cool with us.
Believe it or not, girls aren’t the only ones who are expected to keep their fingernails in check — and no, biting them doesn’t count. If your lady counts on your digits for backrubs and the like, keep them looking nice and her happy with the Ricardo Manicue Set by richartz ($19). The set includes nail scissors, a sapphire nail file, and a nail/cuticle cleaner, plus a handy plastic case that doubles as a stand.
