Mercedes-AMG 53 Series

Mercedes is adding three new model to the AMG lineup, and all three feature an electric-assist powertrain. The CLS and E-Class coupe and convertible will get the turbo-charged straight-six powerplant with an electric motor between the engine and transmission, nearly eliminating turbo lag from the engine. In addition, onboard electronics are moving to a 48-volt system, with with the aim of future hybrid powertrains being offered. AMG-exclusive exterior and interior trim options round out the package. Sales will start in the US in late 2018.
