Robby The Robot

Robby The Robot

Yes folks, it's a genuine life-size Robby the Robot ($50,000) from the classic 1956 film Forbidden Planet. And yes, he costs fifty grand. Built from the same blueprints, molds, and templates used to create the original costume, Robby is fully animatronic and can be remote-controlled. As if a 7-foot-tall robot wouldn't scare housequests enough, Robby comes pre-programmed to say his famous lines from the original movie. You can even run your own voice through Robby's sound system with an included wireless microphone.

  • MonsterPod

No, this isn't Apple's newest iPod, although we will have the latest Apple gear for you later today. The MonsterPod ($25) is a tripod with a viscoelastic morphing polymer super grip base. You simply mount your camera and press the MonsterPod against nearly any surface to have a safe, stable base for your photos and videos. Plus, it's small enough to fit in your pocket, which is more than we can say for traditional tripods — that is, unless you have really big, long pockets.

  • Camcorder Clock

If you happen to be paranoid about leaving your office unprotected, or you just have a love for spy-style gadgets, the Camcorder Clock ($200) is for you. It features a motion-activated color camera that can capture up to 12 minutes of video on its internal memory, or expand the memory with an SD card. It outputs 320x240 AVI video that can be downloaded directly from the card or from the clock via USB, so you'll never have to worry about anonymous office pranks again.
