It was only a matter of time until we saw electric surfboards, but Wavejet ($TBA) isn't quite what you'd think. Instead of strapping an outboard engine to a crazy-large board, the Wavejet is a Personal Water Propulsion (PWP) engine that attaches to and can be used with a variety of watercraft, including kayaks, boogie boards, and, yes, surfboards. Its twin-lithium ion battery pack is good for over 30 minutes of cruising, and offers 20 lbs. of thrust, or enough to make it 2 to 3 times faster than paddling and a helluva lot more fun.

  • Cedar Strip Wood Kayak

It's easy enough to go down to your local sporting goods store and pick up one of the myriad kayaks available, but if you want an experience that's a little less... pedestrian, check out the Cedar Strip Wood Kayak ($TBA). Recalling kayaks of days gone past, this 18' 4" vessel is handcrafted from a composite of Western Red Cedar strips and glass fiber, and features watertight storage compartments, adjustable foot braces, included seat and backrest, carrying handles, and deck rigging, all while weighing only 38 lbs.

  • JakPak

When is a jacket not a jacket? When its a sleeping bag and tent as well. The JakPak ($250) combines a waterproof rain jacket, sleeping bag, and tent into a single piece of clothing, made from 3.1 oz urethane coated ripstop nylon, with the sleeping bag folding down from the inside of the jacket's rear, the tent folding out of a pocket on the back, and your traditional hiking backpack looking forlorn as its reason for being slips away.
