Axiom Space x Prada Spacesuit
Artemis III is planned to be the first American crewed lunar landing since Apollo 17 in December 1972. On the moon's surface, NASA astronauts will be donning this Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit. It was developed in collaboration with Italian fashion house Prada and combines advanced technologies with innovative sewing methods to create a suit that's not only functional and comfortable but stylish, as well. Designed to endure the extreme temperatures at the lunar south pole and aid in exploration, it has a regenerable carbon dioxide scrubbing system, robust cooling technology to remove unwanted heat, advanced coatings on the helmet and visor to enhance astronauts' vision, custom gloves, life support systems, pressure garments, and avionics. The suit is currently nearing the final development phase and is expected to enter the critical design review phase in 2025.
