Beyond Aero BYA-1 Hydrogen Electric Jet

In the race to create a more fuel-efficient aircraft, Beyond Aero is looking to hydrogen electric technology with the BYA-1. Currently in development, it aims to be the first electric light jet designed for hydrogen propulsion, using a battery-free hydrogen fuel cell system with built-in redundancy and two electric engines powered by independent powerplant channels. Capable of carrying six passengers on trips up to 900 miles, it's expected to cut fuel costs by 65%, cut operational costs by up to 55% thanks to a modular engine swap system and 90% fewer moving parts, and a custom-designed FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) system. Inside, elliptical windows are 27% larger than traditional business jets for a lighter, more airy cabin, while the low-noise electric propulsion and advanced acoustic insulation reduce cabin noise by 15 dB. Beyond claims to be on track to deliver its first certified BYA-1 by 2030.
