Blancpain Bathyscaphe Quantieme Complet Phases de Lune

There's nothing easy about luxury watchmaking — not making the movement, assembling the bracelet, or putting the final product together. It's partly why watches can be so expensive. Blancpain knows this well — and the Swatch-owned manufacturer's new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Quantieme Complet Phases de Lune dive watches are proof. Years in the making, the watches come with a ceramic case and blue, green, or black sunray dials, which, albeit stunning, are not new, a complete calendar with moon phase, a three-day power reserve, and a signature dive bezel. The real victory here is Blancpain's patented multi-link ceramic bracelet, a flexible yet durable design that took hundreds, if not thousands, of manufacturing trial runs to perfect. (Half of the samples failed to meet their exacting standards.) It's tougher than a titanium bracelet but nearly 25% lighter, which helps it stand alone in the dive watch category.
