Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Red Gold Watches
Falling in line with the Blancpain Bathyscaphe Quantieme Complet Phases de Lune released earlier this year, the new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet and Chronographe Flyback watches in vibrant 18K red gold marry the technical achievements of the aforementioned timepiece with the striking allure of a new material. But it also carries with it updates made with earlier redesigns, like the refreshed, refined diameter: a modest, more wearable 42mm versus the original 45. But the slimming down does anything but shrink this watch. There's no diminishing its opulence. Debtued in 1953 as the first true diver's watch, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms now takes on a more luxurious tone, albeit with the same functionalities. With hand satin-brushed links, a patented, smooth-face bracelet with rear-facing screws, and a sunray finish blue dial with or without the moon phase at 6 o'clock, both models are imposing without being too over-the-top. Red gold, which is different than rose gold because of its higher copper and lower silver content, surely does make a statement though.
