Chopard L.U.C Grand Strike Watch
The result of over 11,000 hours of research and development and five new patents, Chopard's L.U.C Grand Strike integrates a grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, and minute repeater in a novel new way. Instead of the hammers striking metal gongs, they strike the sides of the sapphire crystal itself, resulting in a clearer, louder tone. A dial-less design allows the hammers at 10 o'clock to be viewed, along with the 60-second tourbillon at 6 o'clock, the power reserve at 2 o'clock, and the mode indicator at 12 o'clock. The latter is operated using a switch next to the winding and setting crown for the hand-wound, COSC-certified L.U.C 08.03-L caliber movement. Measuring 43mm and crafted from 18-carat ethical white gold, the watch sits on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap with a matching white gold clasp and is limited to roughly three examples produced per year.
