Deep Sea Dreamer Submarine Concept
Designer Steve Kozloff has a vision — explore both sides of the ocean in one vessel. Called the Deep Sea Dreamer, Kozloff's 107-foot vessel is a submarine that can also function as a yacht above the waves. The craft would cruise just below the waves with a dorsal fin providing fresh air to the cabin and expelling exhaust. Kozloff envisions a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system comprising two Cummins diesel engines, an electric motor, and 10 thrusters. Maximum dive depth is estimated at 328 feet, with 100 miles of travel on electric power only and a combined 6,000 miles with the hybrid system. The sub could remain stationary on the ocean floor for seven days. Passengers would find excellent accommodations while traversing the seas, with a 275-square-foot owner's sweet, two guest cabins, and a massive panoramic observation area.
