East Japan Railway E10 Shinkansen Bullet Train
The East Japan Railway Company, or JR East, is preparing to replace its E2 and E5 bullet trains with the E10 Shinkansen. The first such train to be designed by a British partner — Tangerine — it sports a livery and interiors inspired by the regions it passes through. The exterior is a light green on top with a darker, bluish-green on the bottom, referencing the forests and coastlines. Inside, blues and greens are repeated, serving to ground the different seating classes with graphic elements inspired by the silhouette of the Sakura (cherry blossom) flower. Currently in the design implementation phase, the first trains are expected to enter service in 2030.
