Grand Seiko Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon
Grand Seiko's latest creation is its most complicated yet. The Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon introduces the Caliber 9ST1 movement, fusing a tourbillon and a constant-force mechanism on a single axis for the first mechanical complication in the brand's 62-year history. Its motion creates a unique sound that inspires the watch's namesake, Kodo, the Japanese word for heartbeat. The mechanism is housed in a platinum and titanium 43.8 mm case with an open-work dial and the sapphire case back. The watch comes with a calf strap made in the same ways as ancient Samurai armor and hand-painted with multiple coats of Urushi lacquer, producing a glossy appearance.
