The First Hotel on the Moon
Most space tourism firms are just getting started taking passengers to low-Earth orbit. Galactic Resource Utilization (GRU) Space plans to skip that altogether by building a hotel on the Moon. A multi-mission process is planned, starting with a test run that will involve early construction experiments using locally sourced materials. The second mission will see an inflatable system deployed in a lunar pit, chosen for its natural shielding, and further construction tests conducted. The third mission will see the hotel — an inflatable structure designed to host up to four guests for multi-day stays — installed on the Lunar surface, where guests can enjoy activities like Moonwalks, driving, and golfing. Future missions will involve full-scale construction using ISRU systems and robotic equipment, with modular inflatable habitats enclosed by structures made from lunar material, increasing both capacity and the life of the hotel. Construction is slated to begin in 2029, with the hopes of having the hotel operational by 2032. GRU Space is currently accepting applications for early reservations, with a deposit of $250,000 - $1,000,000 required to hold a spot.
