Hazemann & Monnin School Watch
Alexandre Hazemann and Victor Monnin met at the Lycée Edgar Faure in Morteau, France, one of the country's most respected watchmaking schools, and built their first serious watch there as students. That watch, the School Watch, just won the 2026 Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives, chosen from a field of over 1,000 entries by a jury that included master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen and TAG Heuer's Haute Horlogerie Director Carole Forestier-Kasapi. The 39.5mm stainless steel case houses an instantaneous jumping hour and a passing chime, the sonnerie visible through the dial. It comes in a limited edition of 20 across two interpretations: Hazemann's with openworked subdials and blue accents, and Monnin's with malachite and opal stone dials. The prize includes a six-figure grant and a year-long mentorship at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Hazemann & Monnin has been operating for less than two years. The watch that got them here started as homework.
