Ianos Mihanikos Watch

Ianos pays homage to Greece's sponge diving heritage with the Mihanikos. Envisioning what an ancient diver would need when walking on the seafloor, the diver watch features a 43mm stainless steel case with an extra-wide bezel resembling the portholes of a diving suit, while the curved design echos the soft edges of a sea sponge. Its blue dial keeps the emphasis on the hours since minutes were irrelevant when diving and highlights a date window at 12 o'clock to count down the days until the boat returns home. A seconds mechanism at 6 o'clock references the manual air pumps crews used to supply air to the first scaphandre divers, while a line from a Mihanikos song that states, "I will either be a mechanic or remain in the sand and if I die, don't cry for me, bury me in the sand," is inscribed on the flange. Limited to just 300 examples, the Ianos Mihanikos Watch is available for pre-order Dec 10th and will ship in June 2022.
