Jimi Hendrix 1967 SG Custom and 1969 Flying V Guitars
Calling Jimi Hendrix an icon is almost offensive — though his career was tragically short, his influence on music is as massive as Beethoven or The Beatles. Just as iconic as Hendrix's guitars, and Gibson is releasing two special editions based on ones played by Jimi himself. First is a 1967 SG Custom in Aged Polaris White. The triple-pickup masterpiece comes with gold hardware, three humbucker pickups, and tremelo. Next is a 1969 Flying V, immortalized at Hendrix's performance at the Isle of Wight Festival on August 31, 1970. Presented in Murphy Lab Aged Ebony with gold hardware, the Flying V comes with an ebony fretboard, dual humbuckers, and the legendary shape that launched a revolution in guitar design. 125 Flying Vs, 50 left-handed versions, and 150 SG Customs will be handmade by their master luthiers, with each guitar coming with a custom, period-correct case and documentation.
