Johnny Carson's Bel Air Estate
Host of The Tonight Show for 30 years, Johnny Carson was a true American icon. He also counted this Bel Air estate among his properties. Designed in 1949 for film producer and director Mervyn LeRoy, whose credits included The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind, the 9,000-square-foot house sits on a 1.5-acre lot in the affluent East Gate neighborhood. Features include a private security booth, an oval swimming pool with a hot tub, a lighted tennis court with a dedicated pavilion, a sun deck, and a cabana. Inside is a spacious living area with a wet bar, a chef's kitchen, two bathrooms and walk-in closets in the master bedroom, and a wine cellar. Owned by Carson's ex-wife Joanna until her death last year, proceeds from the sale will be divided between three charities: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the David Geffen Foundation, and SHARE.
