Marufukuro Hotel
In 1889, craftsman Fusajiro Yamauchi founded Nintendo as a producer of handmade hanafuda playing cards. The company's original headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, has now been transformed into the Marufukuro Hotel. Headed by architect Tadao Ando and Plan Do See, the landmark building now consists of 18 guest rooms and a newly designed annex. The space embodies a refined atmosphere with tile fireplaces, plaid rugs, rich woods, and custom wallpaper. Serval nods to the property's pre-video game heritage are displayed throughout, including a library filled with original items from the Yamauchi family.
