MB&F Special Project One Watch
MB&F's latest timepiece started life as a crudely drawn sketch of a simple concept: a watch with a floating barrel, balance wheel, and dial. Initially dubbed "Three Circles", it's now available in production form as the Special Project One. With sapphire on the front and back, the elements appear to float above the wrist, all with the same circumference. The tilted dial highlights MB&F's clever conical gearing, the balance wheel's oscillations draw the eye at 2 o'clock, and most of the watch's components are hidden beneath the three elements, adding to the effect. At 38mm in diameter and 12mm thick, it's MB&F's slimmest and smallest watch, comes in platinum with a sky blue bevelled flange or rose gold/anthracite, and sits on a calfskin strap.
