Mercedes-Benz EQS Electric Sedan
The first Mercedes designed from the outset as an electric vehicle has finally broke cover. The EQS isn't just a landmark for Mercedes — with specs like 478 miles of range, rear- or all-wheel-drive, and 329 to 516 horsepower depending on options, it's a step up for EVs as a whole. It's not just tech wizardry and software that give the EQS its range figures, as Mercedes claims a 0.20 drag coefficient, one of the lowest figures ever for a production car. Step inside and a 55-inch, door-to-door display called the Hyperscreen dominates the interior, with AI that learns the most-used commands and keeps them at the ready. Voice activation is also included, and Mercedes took pains to make sure manually using the interface is a fast and lag-free as possible. One notable exception is the lack of a frunk. The traditional underhood area is completely inaccessible to owners, with the only access being a windshield wiper fluid reservoir compartment. The EQS should reach the US in late 2021 or early 2022.
