Neil Armstrong's Gold Apollo 11 Omega Speedmaster Watch
Following the Apollo 11 moon landing, Omega crafted 26 gold Speedmaster Professional chronographs — the first gold Speedies, but otherwise the same as the model worn during the lunar walk — for NASA to gift to the astronauts that helped the momentous spacewalk happen. This one was gifted to the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong. No. 17, the caseback is engraved "Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, Gemini 8 - Apollo 11", with a central quote that reads "To mark man's conquest of space with time, through time, on time." With an 18K gold case, matching bracelet, and bezel with a burgundy red aluminum inlay, it presents in very good condition with scuffs to the bezel and scratches to the caseback, which point to the watch not having ever been polished or modified in any way. It's accompanied by an "Extract from the Archives" certificate from Omega and will be sold by RR Auction on April 17th with a portion of the price going to charities selected by Neil's son, Mark Armstrong.
