Nintendo Museum

For those of a certain age, the word Nintendo conjures up waves of nostalgia for simple 8-bit graphics and chiptune soundtracks. For others, it's the weirdness of the N64 controller, or perhaps the bright colors of a Game Boy. The Nintendo Museum, opening in the company's home base of Kyoto, Japan, is both an homage to the company's past and a modern interactive playground. On the first floor of the museum, visitors can use digital coins to access unique play experiences that include classic games, giant two-person controllers, and Zapper shooting galleries. The second floor houses a hardware retrospective, where visitors can see the evolution of the company's consoles. In an homage to the company's early years, a Craft & Play area offers an upcharge experience where visitors can make their own Hanafuda playing cards and learn how to play with them. The museum opens on October 4th and is currently accepting reservations.
