Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 Watch
Created to mark the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8 — and thus our first glimpse of the Moon's backside — the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 Watch is a highly collectible timepiece. Its 44.25 mm black ceramic case holds a Calibre 1869 movement, which is itself a blackened version of the famous 1861 Moonwatch movement. Its dial is skeletonized and adorned with craters that represent the view of the Moon from Earth, while the crystal caseback offers a view of the movement and its laser-ablated pieces that show the Moon's dark side. The latter also has Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell's message to mission control, "We'll see you on the other side", etched upon it. It's finished with yellow seconds and subdial hands, a yellow Speedmaster script, and a perforated black leather strap with yellow contrast stitching and a yellow rubber insert.
