Panton Chrome Chair
Verner Panton's eponymous chair is a design icon. He tried giving it a mirrored surface in the early 1970s but was unable to make it resistant to scratches. The Panton Chrome Chair is this idea reborn, handcrafted using a metallisation process that embeds metal particles in multiple layers of varnish, giving it the appearance the designer desired with a robustness that was impossible before. It will be on display at IMM Cologne — the same forum where the chair was debuted 50 years ago — alongside the luminous Panton Glow, and will be available for purchase in March.
