Pipistrel Alpha Electro Airplane
Designed as a two-person trainer, the Pipistrel Alpha Electro Airplane also offers a glimpse of all-electric air travel. For training, it has a short take-off distance, enabling use at smaller airfields, a quick 1,000 fpm climb speed, and an endurance of one-hour per charge. According to the company, the all-electric powertrain can cut the cost of pilot training by as much as 70% and can be operated with a single lever, allowing future airmen to focus on learning their skills. It recently received FAA certification — the first all-electric to do so — making its arrival at an airstrip near you only a matter of time.
