Ressence x Terumasa Ikeda Type 9 Watch

There are no hands on a Ressence watch. Just rotating discs in orbit. Japanese artist Terumasa Ikeda took the idea of planets in motion as his conceptual starting point, linking the display to early astronomy and the search for truth through observation. For his collaboration with the Belgian watchmaker, Ikeda applied Urushi lacquer and raden, a traditional Japanese technique using razor-thin pieces of mother-of-pearl shell that must be soaked and slowly bent before they can follow the curved dial without breaking. The result is a 39mm grade 5 titanium case with DLC finish and domed sapphire crystal that reads less like a watch and more like a found object from another century. Limited to 8 pieces.
