Rolex Land-Dweller Watch

It has a case that harkens back to the Oysterquartz of the '70s, an integrated Flat Jubilee bracelet with a concealed folding Crownclasp, and a distinctive dial with a honeycomb motif and Explorer-like numerals at 9 and 6 o'clock. Yet it's what's inside the all-new Rolex Land-Dweller that makes it important. Nearly 10 years in development, the calibre 7135 is Rolex's first-ever mechanical high-frequency movement, running at 5 Hz thanks to a novel escapement. Dubbed the Dynapulse, it's made primarily from silicon, and has a sequential distribution design that transmits energy by rolling rather than sliding. It's extremely lightweight, thin, virtually insensitive to magnetic fields, and more efficient than traditional movements. Measuring just 9.7mm thick, the watch is available in 36mm and 40mm diameters, and in steel with a white gold fluted bezel, Everose gold, and platinum, the latter two available with a baguette diamond-set bezel.
